Nexus Control
The HEX page is a war map: a ring of hexagonal territories that two factions fight over, cycle after cycle. Take hexes, wire them together, cover the map in your colour.
Pick a Side
The Syndicate
Order through control.
The Collective
Freedom through unity.
The first time you open HEX you choose a faction. You can leave later, but a player who changes side during a cycle loses that cycle's rewards, and nobody can walk out while they still own a hex.
Inside a Hex
Every hex holds a few peripheral nodes and one Nexus node. Click a hex to see them. To hit them you need their IPs: a Hex Map Package reveals a hex you do not know and files its hosts in a new folder of your target list.
Capturing a Hex
- Hack every peripheral node of the hex, successfully, yourself, in this cycle.
- The game tells you the Nexus is unlocked. Until then, hacking it does nothing.
- Hack the Nexus. The hex turns to your faction and you become its owner.
INFO
Taking an enemy hex tears down every enemy link attached to it, and any field those links were holding up.
Keys, Links and Fields
- Nexus Keys: hacking the Nexus of a hex your faction holds (or the one you just took) can drop that hex's key.
- Links: connect to the Nexus of one of your hexes, crack it, open the Nexus tab and spend the key of another hex your faction holds. The key is used up.
- A link cannot cross another link. Place yours to block theirs.
- Control Fields: three links that close a triangle make a field. The bigger the triangle, the more it scores.
Scoring and Cycles
- At every checkpoint each faction scores points for the hexes it holds and for the area of its fields.
- When the cycle ends, the faction with more points wins. Everyone who took part gets a reward, the top players of each side get more. Claim them from Rewards before the next cycle ends.
- Then the map resets: every hex goes neutral, links, fields and keys disappear, Hex folders are wiped and the Nexus hosts change IP.
- History replays past cycles; the Game Log, the cycle leaderboard and the timers sit at the bottom of the map.
TIP
The Nexus Rush Protocol (shop) lifts target cooldowns on Nexus hosts for 30 minutes. Capture sprees heat your system up, and an overheated operator cannot capture at all. See Items.
