Fair Play & Heat

Project Zero is made for people. Scripts that hack around the clock wreck the game for everyone else, so the network keeps a temperature for every operator: heat. Play like a person and it stays at zero. You will never see this page in action.

What Heats You Up

  • Hacks chained with no human pause in between, over and over.
  • Timing so regular no hand could produce it.
  • Hours of nonstop activity without a single break.
  • Daily volumes of hacks or hex captures far beyond what a player can do.

Exact limits are not published: they are there to catch machines, not to be gamed.

What Heat Does

  • Smaller rewards: Bits, drops, Bits Packages, miner claims and reputation gains shrink. Reputation losses do not.
  • Forced pauses: "System overheated. Cooling down...", a wait before your next hack on any target.
  • At the top: no rewards at all, miners stop paying out and hex captures are denied.
  • The Nexus Rush Protocol will not start once your system is warm.

Very high daily volumes cut rewards on their own as well, even with no heat. Grinding a thousand hacks a day is not the way to grow.

Cooling Down

Heat drops on its own once you stop playing for a while (an open tab does not count as playing), and a chunk of it goes away every day at midnight UTC. Take a break and you come back clean.

Spamming Actions

Firing the same action faster than the interface allows (connect, crack, log deletes, miner claims) gets answered with "Too many requests". Keep doing it and the game slows you down further.

TIP
A good session: a handful of targets, real pauses, logs cleaned, upgrades queued, then log off. See Getting Started.
