The Interface

Project Zero runs in your browser and looks like an operator's console. Everything starts from HOME, the Network Connection Manager: this is where you pick targets and launch your hacks.

The home screen. The numbers match the list below.
  1. Header: your Bits (BI), Bytes (BY), reputation and unread mail. Click the mail icon to open your inbox.
  2. Sidebar: every page of the game, from HOME down to this WIKI. A page that wants your attention blinks.
  3. Bounce list: the route of your next connection. The last host in the list is the target. See Bounces & Logs.
  4. Target list: every host you know, with its level, IP, last hack and your notes. The + next to a name adds it to the bounce list. See Target Management.
  5. CONNECT: opens the connection through your bounce list. See Hacking.
  6. LOGS: the access log of your own host. This is where you find out who has been in your machine.
  7. IP field: type or paste an IP, then press ADD TARGET to put that host in your list.
  8. Chat: the global chat, always one click away.

  • RANKS: the leaderboard, ordered by reputation.

The Shop

The shop is a tab of the ITEMS page: the Digital Market. Each card shows the price, how many you own and why you cannot buy it yet (level, reputation or funds). Bytes are sold there too, for Bits.

ITEMS, Shop tab. Prices are in Bits or Bytes.

Apps Live in Your Filesystem

Some tools are programs installed on your host. Open FILES, go to /usr/bin and click an app to run it. Every host comes with mail.app; the Corporate Registration Kit installs corporation.app. A running app gets its own icon in the sidebar.

/usr/bin on your own host.
TIP
The interface is built for a desktop screen. If text looks small, zoom your browser to 150%. On a phone, play in landscape.
