Introduction
Project Zero is a free hacking MMORPG that runs in your browser. You get one machine and a network full of other people's machines. Break in, take what they hold, clean your traces, get out before they trace you. Then upgrade, and go after bigger targets.
What You Do
- Hack players and NPC hosts in a race between your crack and their trace. See Hacking.
- Cover your tracks: route through relays, read and wipe logs. See Bounces & Logs.
- Build your rig: 11 components, real-time upgrades, a build that is yours. See Host Components.
- Run missions and dungeons for Bits, loot and story. See Missions and Dungeon.
- Go to war for your faction on the Nexus map. See Nexus Control.
- Join a corporation and build modules in its factory. See Corporations.
- Piece together the story from the fragments your hacks turn up. See Lore & Story.
The Setting
2051. An artificial superintelligence runs the internet and watches everything on it. Beneath a mountain in Colorado, a system from the 1980s has been waiting, cut off from all of it. Somebody just switched it back on. That system is where you play, and it has a story of its own.
New here? Getting Started walks you through your first ten minutes, and The Interface explains what is on your screen.
