Lore Fragments
Lore fragments are hidden files scattered across the network. Each fragment reveals a piece of the story.
- Found on various hosts during hacking
- Hidden in unexpected directories
- Some require specific conditions to appear
- Collected fragments can be viewed in the Lore section
Story Missions
Special story missions advance the main narrative:
- Unlock as you progress through the game
- Often require finding specific files or hosts
- Provide context for the world and your role in it
- Completion grants unique rewards

Echoes in the Machine
The story doesn't only live in files. Some of the rarest Prototype modules carry names and traces of those who came before — fragments of code that remember their makers. If one drops for you, read it carefully. The network forgets nothing.
Discovery Tips
- Explore every host thoroughly
- Check /home directories for personal files
- Look in /var/log for historical records
- Some hosts only appear after certain conditions
- Pay attention to in-game mail for hints
